SYC Turns 65

THE SYARIAH COURT OF SINGAPORE CELEBRATES 65TH ANNIVERSARY

The Syariah Court of Singapore (SYC) celebrates its 65th anniversary in 2023. Through its journey, SYC has come a long way and strengthened its legal capabilities and operational processes to administer just and fair outcomes, while preserving Muslim families through the divorce process. In conjunction with its 65th anniversary, SYC held the SYC65 Conference and Anniversary Event at Sands Expo and Convention Centre on 24 November 2023. The Child Representative Scheme and the SYC commemorative book were launched during the Anniversary Event.

Launch of SYC Commemorative Book

In conjunction with its 65th anniversary, SYC launched its first-ever commemorative book on 24 November 2023 to share with the public and practitioners on the work of the SYC and the significant legal developments over the years. The book documents the developments, initiatives and the people behind the monumental efforts which made SYC an institution that preserves and strengthens the relationships of Muslim families in Singapore. It also showcases how SYC is rooted in tradition and Islamic principles in administering Muslim family law and dispensing justice for families.

SYC65 Commemorative Videos

During the event, SYC also showcased a refreshed corporate video to commemorate its rich history and efforts in supporting Muslim families over the years. The video can be viewed below.

Specially for the 65th anniversary, SYC also produced a video featuring its long-serving staff members as well as partners such as hakam and lawyers, as a tribute to their tireless and unwavering dedication to helping parties and families in SYC. It also conveys the growth of the Court through their perspectives.
